The Power of Community is Positive Change
Dear Little Friends,
We are feeling very sad about the whales that lost their way and beached on the beach Saturday, 30 May 2009. Civilians were great in helping and I am so grateful for every one's contribution in and out of the water yesterday. As our mission as nature protectors we must insist on a Plan of Action because there is a very good chance it is going to happen again. There were possibilities yesterday, but resources and lack of experience in SA was a problem. The media can be used more effectively and we must learn from this devastating experience. We cannot afford to loose any more whales or any other animal.
We got an invitation to a tree planting event which is taking place next weekend at Noordhoek Common, 7 June. I would like to suggest we do this in honor of the whales and plant a tree for each whale as their journey continuous regardless.
They died with lots of love around them and we want them to know that we as civilians did our best before the authorities ordered us away and shot them. We will continue addressing this issue until we have a satisfied plan of action to be prepared if it should happen again.
love and blessings,
Liesel
